Well established manufacturer of light metal products is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Detail Drafter for their fast paced engineering department.

Working under the instructions of the group Design Engineers, you will be responsible for accurate preparation of general arrangement and detailed fabrication workshop drawings using 3D Solidworks and 2D Autocad.  You will be working closely with sales staff, and liasing with workshop production staff to ensure the quality of the fabricated parts and the assembly of equipment. 

Applicants should have a certificate or diploma in mechanical engineering, and proficiency with both Autocad and 3D modelling using Solidworks. Good attention to details, and ability to produce accurate drawings with minimal supervision are required. Detailing experience in metal fabrication or sheetmetal , and knowledge of AS1418, and AS1735 design codes would be highly advantageous.

Principal Geotechnical Engineer

Current projects include the geotechnical design of a package for a $1b mining project with further packages to be released soon.

Other areas of responsibility will include:
•Managing and assisting multidisciplinary design teams
•Reporting on project commercial and technical performance
•Attending site visits in the Pilbara region
•Assisting in the training of staff, overseeing OH&S and QA processes
•Developing local contacts and assisting with bids and bid process improvement

To be considered for this role you will have:

•Degree in geotechnical or related area and 10 to 15 years experience in the geotechnical, earth sciences or tunnelling fields. Preferably Chartered Engineer.
•Previous leadership experience
•10+ years experience in Geotechnical Engineering. Preferences to demonstrable experience in the Australian mining sector or knowledge of the Pilbara region of WA.  Experience in bulk earthworks/ground improvement desirable.
•Exceptional written and oral communication for written reports, publications and presentations
•Proven commercial acumen and project management skills

Reporting directly to the Director,  you will be mainly responsible for providing in-house technical expertise to the group. This includes  the reviews and assessments of existing building plant equipment, HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, carrying out heat /cool load calculations, review current / design control strategies and make recommendations for system upgrades and with view to improve building energy efficiencies and to ensure they are in line with the required NABERS ratings. As also part of your role, you will

be required to project manage and contract administration of any HVAC or BMS systems installation projects.

Applicants should possess a degree in mechanical engineering and ideally have acquired a chartered engineering status, and a minimum of 10 years of practical design and construction experience in building services engineering consultant environment.  Familiarity with Australian Building Codes Design standard, and knowledge of current NABERS rating systems are essential.

My client is a specialist providing engineering geological and geotechnical engineering consulting services to large primary industry and resources projects. They are currently seeking an Associate Geotechnical Engineer to assist in the leadership of their Perth Office.

This is an opportunity to join a highly successful team of professionals working with a world class client base, who consisitently receive projects directly, rather than by tender.

 As 2IC to the Geotechnical Manager, the position will be given the autonomy and responsibility to make a significant contribution to the organisation through technical input, project management, coaching and leadership support.

Your geotechnical engineering knowledge and leadership will be focused on projects that include: the development of new or extension of existing heavy haul rail networks, resource related infrastructure including mine and harbour plant foundations, conveyors, roads, pipelines, dams and slopes.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Qualifications in civil/geotechnical engineering.
  • 15+ years experience in geotechnical investigations and detailed design, gained in a consulting environment in Australia.
  • Longevity with a previous employers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional interpretative, analytical and project management skills.
  • Experience in maintaining and developing a client base and proven experience preparing comprehensive reports and documentation.
